In the Textile Restoration Department each piece is thoroughly restored in accordance with technical criteria of durability and preservation, as well as respect for the piece’s authenticity.
Inaugurated in 2016, the new department aims at showcasing textile heritage. Its objective is to preserve and restore a wide range of historical textiles including civilian or military clothing, liturgical garments, fabrics, as well as other pieces and accessories of a textile nature.
Mindful of current heritage restoration principles, the materials used will always match the nature of the piece of textile, in addition to being reversible and distinguishable from the original.
The department also offers an advisory service for global projects of restoration and conservation of textile heritage. This includes technical assistance at exhibitions, packaging and storage, design of showcases and exhibition systems, lighting, flyers, posters, etc.
